FUMC Programs

Children's Ministry
First United Methodist Church has a long tradition of quality programs for children and their families. Under the leadership of Associate Pastor Debbie Gara, an active year-round program provides enriching Sunday School experiences for infants through sixth graders. Sunday School begins at 9:00 a.m. each Sunday (September through June). Occasional special assemblies and parties add variety to the program. A winter camp for grades 1-6 takes place each January at Camp Sky Meadows. Children's Choirs (see Music Ministry) provide music experiences each Sunday during worship. A special Summer Sunday School program meets at 10:00 a.m. (concurrent with Worship) late June through August.

Youth Ministry
A dynamic program is available for youth grades 7-12. Under the leadership of Youth Council Chairperson Paul Audley, Co-Presidents of Youth Fellowship Sean Ehrlich and Elise Gabriel, and Associate Pastor Allison Mark, weekly activities provide opportunities for fellowship, study, and service. A winter retreat, summer drama program, summer camp and choir tour complement the weekly program. Sunday School classes meet at 9:00 a.m., music programs rehearse Sunday afternoons (see Music Ministry) and Youth Fellowship gathers every Sunday evening at 6:45 p.m. for dinner and a variety of programs and activities. Youth also have opportunity to participate in the church video ministry, acolyte program.

Boy Scouts
The Scouting program offers extensive special opportunities for young men including skill building activities, team building interactions, advanced leadership opportunities and the opportunity to develop lifelong friendships and memories.

For more information about Scouting visit the official Boy Scouts of America Website. For more information on Troop 27, please click here, or contact the church office@fumcpasadena.org.

Adult Ministry & Fellowship
A variety of Sunday, mid-week and other short-term classes are available to adults. Under the leadership of Associate Pastor Debbie Gara, year-round opportunities are planned to provide growth in personal faith and discipleship. Informal and formal fellowship groups foster strong ties between members of the congregation. Regularly-meeting groups include Genesis Fellowship (couples with young children), Entheos (ages 35-50), Pathfinders (singles and couples ages 50-retirement), Questers (singles and couples ages 60+), Lamplighters and Aldersgate (singles and couples ages 70+). United Methodist Men and United Methodist Women are active with monthly meetings.

The Faith in Action Program, under the leadership of Associate Pastor Debbie Gara and coordinator Heidi Neuroth, provides ministry for home-bound adults.

Detailed brochures are available on Adult Ministry activities by contacting the Church Office.

Intergenerational Programs
Intergenerational experiences include camping at Camp Sky Meadows over the Memorial and Labor Day weekends along with the fall Women's Retreat, the annual Advent Workshop as well as church picnics.

Several fellowship groups foster strong ties including United Methodist Women and United Methodist Men.
