Minister of Hospitality
Rev. Connie Tamkin served throughout most of her ministry in Dallas, Texas. She has returned “home” to Firsts UMC, Pasadena, where she had her call to ministry over 20 years ago. Her grounding theology is the gracious hospitality of God and its extension of hospitality ministry and congregational care. She is an ardent social justice advocate and is currently engaged with housing justice issues throughout the San Gabriel Valley and is championing the development of a Community Land Trust.
Pastor Tamkin also loves to facilitate discipleship classes with an exploring perspective, willing to chew on a concept, wrestle with what the ancient texts say to us today. She is widowed and remarried to husband, John, and has two adult daughters. Her interests include gardening, hiking, easy bike rides, good food and good company. And like the other pastors, she has a dog, a 13 year-old "Min Pin" named Duke.
