Pastor Amy Aitken began her ministry at Pasadena First in July of 2021. A native of Southern California, Pastor Amy attended high school and college in California before moving to Atlanta to earn her Masters in Divinity from Candler School of Theology at Emory University, and later earned a Doctor of Ministry at Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington DC. She was ordained in 1997 and has served United Methodist Churches in Ventura, Granada Hills, Long Beach, Costa Mesa and Redondo Beach. Pastor Amy is passionate about connecting our Christian faith to our everyday lives in ways that are practical, spiritually-grounded, compassionate and just.
Pastor Amy is married to Mark Wright and they have a young adult daughter, Nikki, and a rambunctious dog named Lulu. When not at church, she enjoys being outdoors, hiking, camping, working out ("enjoy" might be an overstatement on this one), gardening, days at the beach, traveling (30 countries and a whole bunch of states so far!), entertaining, and hanging out with family and friends.
Favorite Food: California-style pizzas (while there is nothing wrong with pepperoni, goat cheese, blue cheese, dates, roasted veggies, sun-dried tomatoes, and such are my jam).
Favorite Local Haunts: The Luggage Room (pizza!), Vroman’s and Jones’ Coffee.
Favorite TV Show: Ted Lasso and Hacks
Favorite Bible Verse: Too many to name, but this is good one: Romans 12:2 “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your minds, so that you may discern what is the will of God- what is good, acceptable and perfect”
