Holy Week at First United Methodist Church

In the midst of this Holy Week, we contemplate Jesus' final days on Earth, leading up to the day when we rejoice in Christ's Resurrection on Easter! Please see our full Holy Week schedule below.

Our Holy Week Worship Services

In the midst of this Holy Week, we contemplate Jesus' final moments on Earth, leading up to the day when we rejoice in Christ's Resurrection on Easter.

Palm Sunday

March 29 at 10:00 a.m. in the Sanctuary

Palm Sunday begins with recalling the story of Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem. Join us on the Colorado Patio at 9:30 a.m. After gathering, we will begin worship with the proclamation of the Gospel and process into the sanctuary while waving palms at 10:00 a.m.

Maundy Thursday

April 2 at 7:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary

Maundy Thursday is the first of the three days of solemn remembrance of the events leading up to and immediately following the crucifixion of Jesus. The Maundy Thursday worship service, centered on the Communion table, gratefully celebrates the call to “love one another as we have been loved.”

Good Friday

April 3 at 7:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary

This moving service for the most solemn day of the Christian calendar recalls the story of Jesus’ crucifixion using the ancient liturgy of Tenebrae (or shadows) and the music of the Taizé Community in France.

Easter Sunday Worship

April 5 at 10:00 a.m. in the Sanctuary

On Easter, we proclaim that nothing, not war, despair or even death, can stop the love of God. With songs of joy, our magnificent choirs, organ, and brass ensemble, we will celebrate God's resurrecting love in our lives and in the world!

After Worship

We have several activities after Easter worship service.

We invite all who come to worship to bring flowers to add to our beautiful flower cross. It’s a tradition to decorate the cross and have your photo taken.

There will be a special Easter Luncheon after worship. All are welcome to dine with us in Fellowship Hall.

For the children, there will be an Easter Egg Hunt at 11:30 a.m. on our campus. There will be plenty of treats for all of the children who participate.
