Children & Families
Children are an important part of First United Methodist Church. We are committed to showing each child how much God loves them. We are devoted to nurturing vital faith and fostering the spiritual lives of children and families.
We offer a variety of programs each week and throughout the year providing opportunities for worship, spiritual formation and lots of fun!

Nursery Care
We provide Nursery Care (Infant–4 years old) every Sunday from 9 a.m.– 12 p.m.
We have an excellent nursery for infants through toddlers. The nursery is staffed by a loving, trained and experienced childcare provider and several volunteers throughout the Sunday morning hours.
Children’s Sunday School
Children pre-K through 6th grade are invited to Sunday School after the Children's Sermon during Worship.
With trained and respected teachers, a warm and welcoming environment, and structured lessons, children will not want to miss a week of Sunday School! Children learn about God’s love for them through storytelling, crafts and games.
Children’s Music
After Children’s Sunday School, we offer a vibrant music program.
Children perform age-appropriate songs in worship and often perform in annual pageants and concerts. There are two children’s choirs : The Cherub Choir (pre-k - first grade) and The Cantate Choir (2nd grade - 6th grade).
An emphasis is placed on a positive first experience in ensemble singing while building confidence, creativity and curiosity.
Vacation Bible School
We have our annual Vacation Bible School every July.
Vacation Bible School is a fun-filled week in the summer of Bible stories, games, crafts, singing and silliness! It is a wonderful week of laughter and joy as children learn about God’s unconditional love for them. All children are welcome!
Family Events
We have many fun, family-focused events all year long.
We believe in Faith, Family, Friends and Fun! Several times a year we gather for family fun and faith building. Family ministry events include Halloween fun, Advent Festival, Family-Style Mardi Gras celebration, and so much more!
Safe Gatherings
The United Methodist Church’s Safe Gatherings policies ensure that every church is a safe place where children, youth and elders may experience the abiding love of God and fellowship within the community of faith.
Our church staff and persons working with our children and youth have completed a comprehensive background check and training to ensure that our campus and programs are safe for children. Children are our top priority and we make every effort to ensure their physical, emotional and spiritual safety while they are in our care.
